It has been on bitter cold, snowy and windy start to winter this year, or am I just spoiled by global warning? It seems to me that not all that many years ago, 10-15 there would have been snow knee deep on the ground and no one seemed surprised by that. The first full moon rises high in the sky tonight accompanied by the red planet Mars and crosses it's path. Venus and Jupiter will also be visible, if it doesn't cloud over, and/or snow. Later this week, you might see a very bright Mars in the night sky.
Wolves still roamed this area when this was a working farm in the early 1900s and certainly when this was a boarding house in the early 1800's. The coyotes still inhabit this areas, their piercing calls can be heard every now and then. Tonight's winds sneak thru every crack in this old homestead and I can imagine how many more cracks there were in those days.
Wolves have strong instincts, intuition, and wisdom, are spiritually connected with letting go of the past encumbrances and embracing personal growth, fredom and learning.
In tonight's full moon you can see deer, scraping away the ice crusted snow, looking for anything green and tasty, you can also tell when they find a fallen apple, and yes there are always a few apples that don't fall before the winter storms knock them down.
icy winds howling
