On this Harvest Moon

The night before last night the light of the nearly full Harvest moon broke thru the rain clouds, and the room was filled with a beautiful  soft light.  Last night However, the clouds won out, ah well so may-be tonight.

On this Harvest moon, we can celebrate, celebrate another turn of the year, joy and gratitude for a good harvest, the hard work that went into making sure there was enough food for the body, wood for the fire and respit for the soul. The long quiet of winter, while the earth is dormant and if one is lucky one can spend time nourishing not only  body but also our soul. 

    Harmony comes to mind when I think of the Harvest Moon, the earth is settling into dormancy,  hibernation begins for earths inhabitants, and for the creatures who don't sleep thru the winter there is a regimen of activities that hopefully carry them thru to Spring.

Under glow of The Harvest moon, this is a time to celebrate, and take pride in ones accomplishments, enjoy the results of ones labor and above all be grateful.

 

Septembers full moon Sept 10

 Each year when September came around I heard alot of talk about "the fall blues".  Soon I for one, will be missing summer, the glorious thunderstorms, the flowers, home grown veggies, long days, sitting on the front porch enjoying a tall, cold drink. Especially not wearing shoes, or heavy winter wear. Certainly when I see the colored leaves, and know that snow will soon follow, I began counting the days until summer might return.   Which brings me to something I read this Harvest Moon ,  a full moon in Pisces will bring sadness.  And Indeed this Harvest Moon is in Pisces. Kindness is empasised.

Astrology is not something that has never held my interest, totally neutral on it.  However the article went on to say that this will be an emotional time and we should all be kind and caring toward ourselves.  Sounds like a good plan to me, further one that we should extend to others.

The Harvest Moon will rise Saturday, Sept. 10th and 5:59 AM. The Weatherman has predicted light rain. To me there something about the Moon  peeking out from the cloud cover, glowing thru a veil of clouds that just says Fall is upon us.  The Harvest moon is the name given to the full Moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox, Sept 22nd, this year.

 The Harvest moon was so named because it afforded the farmers, and others more light by which to harvest the crops they depend on during the winter.  Certainly the Harvest Moon could be seen as a time of transition, new beginnings, a time to discard that which is no longer useful, banishing old habits, learn new skills.
