Tomorrow morning at approximately 4:16 AM EST the Full Beaver moon will reach it's zenith.
This last Full Moon of autumn is called the the Beaver Moon, because the beaver retreats into it den at about this time, having stocked his/her home with everything need to face winter. Beaver don't actually hibernate, they are active, but usually hidden by the ice and snow.The Full Beaver moon is also known as Frost moon, Freezing moon. It will rise in the east tonight, being at it highest point in the Southern sky near midnight and then descending to into the western sky by sunrise.
The fur trappers knew that this was the time of year to get the the best pelts, and took full advantage of it. The Beaver were preparing their lodges for the winter ahead, much as some of us still.
