Spring is not in the air, but the Full Snow Moon is.....a ramble

The night before last  I watched the waxing gibbous Snow moon rise higher and higher into the twilight sky as I prepared our evening meal.    Preparing food reminded me that other names for this full moon are the Wolf Moon,  Howling Wolf Moon, and the Hungry Moon, all related to hunger and finding food, both concerns for our ancestors at this time of year.

The glow of last night's Full Snow Moon washed over snowy fields , the rooms on the western side of the house were illuminated by it much like the first rays of dawn, a sure sign that winter is slipping away.

Waxing crescent and waxing gibbous moons were visible on the bitter cold, clear nights this month.   A silvery arc of light grew into a silvery coin each morning while the sun rose on the opposite side of the valley greeting me each day.
