Halloween poem

Art from Be Awesome

On the night of All Hallows

at dusk we venture from home

walked through the shadows

too scared to walk alone

  to cross open meadows

wherever a porch light shone

our costumes were our masterworks

to beworked on every day

scary face or flowing skirts

determined to wander every which way

as monsters, pitchers, rockers and flirts

the full moon cast it's silvery glow

our  chants and giggles on the chill air

"Ole Owl" heard us and let us know

Children, or were they? everywhere

lighting the way with flashlight's glow

scraping of leaves on the sidewalk

or something unknown?

venturing out, a prize to stalk

sacks of candy so full they groan

curious or greedy on we walk

Moon rising higher

casting longer shadows

more candy was our desire

what was out there, know one knows

to fill our sacks we aspire
