Or if you prefer, "Duck tape. a house is not a home without it."
Duct tape really is the handyman's or handy woman secret weapon, and for that matter the handywoman's secret weapon. I have used it for so many things, for strapping on flimsy cardboard boxes, taping sown a spring that had worked it's way thru a mattress. Even for emergency mends on clothing, but you must be careful doing this because the adhesive, is more than difficult to remove if it left on the fabric for awhile. Below find a pair of Nike's that my hubby had for about 20 years before he finally wore thru the soles and HAD to toss them, so OK we really buried them under his favorite tree...but who's counting. He wore them almost every day, he claimed it was because he paid 75$ for them on sale, now it you use the "clothing worth calculator", that is divide the price of the item by the number of times you wear and item , equals it's actual worth price.....well that is certainly a goodly number.
Speaking of which duct tape works reasonably well on flipflops, unless a bit of it fixes itself to you foot, which will stay stuck to the tape when said flipflops are removed. Definitely and emergency use only solution.
It you own those cheap fabric and tubular aluminum lawn chairs, we do, these ecological horrors are not that sturdy and amazingly duct tape does a pretty good job of holding the placticlike fabric used as seats, armrests and the back the actual part you sit securely in together, essentually you are replacing the fabric with duct tape. This works well provided you don't put it under toooooo muchhh strrresssss....which BTW is not very sturdy. Fair warning and good advice in most situations also regarding most subjects.....but I digress, too often.
OK, well I was going to say is that at our house everyone has their own roll/rolls of this little miracle, and each roll has the name of it's owner inscribed on it. Trust me it, it is essential, if you have a family member who uses copious amounts of the stuff, and has no respect for the contents of other peoples tool box.
Before I leave, I must remind you that the miracle of duct tape comes in many colors and can even be used to construct clothing, you can see an explanation of this on YouTube. Never tried that. But I wrapped a roll of it around a leaky tractor tire once, and with a few minor touch ups, it is still doing it's job.
