land being born a quick ramble

One doesn't have to watch much TV news to see something about volcanoes,  and with my long time curiosity about them, I am enthralled.

I am also aware of the destructive force as well as the beauty that volcanic activity is capable of.

My grandmother used to relate stories that when she was  a teen there was an volcanic eruption near her village.  At first everyone thought it was fireworks, so they  climbed a nearby hill to get a better view of such a rare and wonderful sight.  When they saw the explosions in their little town, they feared it was an invasion, tanks and artillery shelling,  and thus were saved from the lava that was really the invader.
